The Technical Regulation and the Sporting Regulation

The Dakar Classic 2027 is governed by two separate documents published by ASO.

The Technical Regulation covers everything related to the vehicle itself. Vehicle eligibility and period classification, engine and drivetrain rules, suspension and wheels, safety cage requirements, fire extinguishing systems, safety belts and harnesses, helmets and protective clothing, mandatory safety and survival equipment, and navigation instruments.

In short: what your car must look like and how it must be built before you arrive at scrutineering in Barcelona.

The Sporting Regulation covers everything related to how the competition is run. Entry procedures and deadlines, the race format and stage structure, timing and regularity rules, penalties and disqualifications, assistance rules at the bivouac, and the overall classification system.

In short: how the event works from the moment you register to the moment you cross the finish line.

TimeOut Racing monitors all regulation updates and informs clients immediately when new documents are released. If you would like to be kept up to date, get in touch.

ASO Registration and Scrutineering

Competing in the Dakar Classic 2027 requires completing the full ASO registration process, including vehicle technical scrutineering in Barcelona before shipping to Saudi Arabia. All safety equipment must be installed and verified before scrutineering. Missing or non-compliant items at scrutineering can delay or prevent shipment of your vehicle.

ASO registration involves multiple deadlines across documentation, payments, spare parts shipping and crew registration. These run on separate timelines and must all be tracked carefully.
TimeOut Racing handles the entire ASO registration process for our clients. All documentation, all deadlines, all communication with ASO. Explore our Services
