Dakar Categories

The Dakar Rally 2025 features updated categories and classifications for participants. Here's an overview of the current structure:

Motorcycles (Bikes)

  • RallyGP: For professional riders and factory teams.

  • Rally2: For privateers and semi-professional participants.

  • Original by Motul: Riders competing without technical support, handling their own maintenance and repairs.

Cars

  • T1 (Ultimate): High-performance cross-country vehicles, including prototypes with 4x4 or 4x2 drive.

  • T2 (Stock): Production-based cross-country vehicles with minimal modifications.

Lightweight Prototypes (Challenger - T3)

  • T3: Lightweight prototype vehicles specifically designed for off-road racing

Side-by-Side Vehicles (SSV - T4)

  • T4: Near-production side-by-side vehicles with modifications tailored for rally conditions.

Trucks (T5)

  • T5.1: Competition trucks, both prototype and production-based, modified for the race.

  • T5.2: Assistance trucks providing logistical and mechanical support during the rally.

Classic

  • Classic Cars and Trucks: Vehicles manufactured before 2005 or with historical significance. This category uses a regularity rally format, focusing on consistency rather than outright speed.

Mission 1000 (M1000)

  • M1000: A special category for vehicles with alternative or zero-emission propulsion systems, showcasing innovative technology.
