What is the Dakar 48h Chrono Stage

The 48h Chrono Stage of the Dakar 2025 is one of the toughest challenges of the entire rally. Spanning two days, this stage covers nearly 1,000 kilometers, including 965 kilometers of timed sections. Unlike typical daily stages, this one is divided into two parts, interrupted by a mandatory pause at designated rest points.

This stage tests not only the endurance and focus of the drivers but also their strategic skills. Every decision—whether related to speed, navigation, or vehicle preservation—can make the difference between success and setback. As a marathon stage, participants must maintain and repair their vehicles on their own, without assistance from their teams.

The uniqueness of this stage lies in its length and structure. Participants are only allowed to drive until 5:00 PM on the first day and must spend the night at one of the designated stops. Early the next morning, they resume to tackle the second half of the route. This division adds an extra layer of excitement and demands exceptional planning and discipline from the drivers.

The 48h Chrono Stage is not only a test of man and machine but also a rare opportunity to experience the legendary challenges of the Dakar. It combines everything the rally is known for: intense competition, smart tactics, and the ability to perform under pressure.
